AI search company Perplexity announced the launch of Perplexity Labs, a new feature that transforms user ideas into complete projects including reports, spreadsheets, and web applications. The tool is available exclusively to Pro subscribers and represents an expansion beyond the company’s existing search and research capabilities.
Labs performs automated work sessions lasting 10 minutes or longer, utilizing web browsing, code execution, and content creation tools. The system can generate marketing campaigns, analyze business data, create meal plans, and develop simple interactive applications. All generated files are organized in an Assets tab for easy access and download.
The feature distinguishes itself from Perplexity’s existing Deep Research mode by investing more time and offering broader deliverables. Deep Research, now renamed to Research, remains focused on comprehensive answers within 3 to 4 minutes. Labs aims to complete work that would traditionally require days of coordination across multiple skills, according to the company.
