Amazon has introduced Nova Act, a new AI agent that can control a web browser to perform simple actions. According to Maxwell Zeff of TechCrunch, the technology will also power features in Amazon’s upcoming Alexa+ upgrade. Developers can access the Nova Act SDK to build agent prototypes that automate tasks like ordering food or making reservations. Amazon claims Nova Act outperforms similar technologies from OpenAI and Anthropic in internal tests, scoring 94% on the ScreenSpot Web Text evaluation. The AI agent was developed by Amazon’s San Francisco-based AGI lab, led by former OpenAI researchers David Luan and Pieter Abbeel. Luan told TechCrunch that AI agents represent a key step toward creating superintelligent AI systems, defining AGI as “an AI system that can help you do anything a human does on a computer.”
