Snapchat introduces AI-powered video lenses for premium users

Snapchat has launched its first AI Video Lenses powered by its in-house generative video model. According to Aisha Malik at TechCrunch, these new features are exclusively available to Snapchat+ subscribers who pay $15.99 monthly. The initial release includes three lenses: “Raccoon,” “Fox,” and “Spring Flowers,” with more planned weekly. Users can access these lenses through the standard carousel, capture content with front or back cameras, and have the AI-generated videos automatically saved to Memories. While Snap has previously used AI tools from OpenAI and Google, the company is now developing its own models to offer high-quality features at lower operating costs. This move helps Snapchat maintain competitiveness against rivals like Instagram and TikTok in the growing AI content creation space.
