Ilya Sutskever’s Safe Superintelligence (SSI) is raising over $1 billion at a valuation exceeding $30 billion, Bloomberg’s Kate Clark reports. Greenoaks Capital Partners leads the investment with $500 million. The startup, co-founded by Sutskever after leaving his position as OpenAI’s Chief Scientist, focuses exclusively on developing safe AI systems. SSI’s valuation has increased significantly from its previous $5 billion, according to Reuters. The company, launched in June 2023 with Daniel Gross and Daniel Levy, does not plan to sell AI products in the near future. Sutskever emphasizes that SSI will concentrate solely on creating safe superintelligent AI systems, avoiding competitive market pressures. The funding round is still in progress, with previous investors including Sequoia Capital and Andreessen Horowitz.
