OpenAI introduces government version of ChatGPT

OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Gov, a new version of its AI platform specifically designed for U.S. government agencies. As reported by Hayden Field for CNBC, the platform enables government organizations to use ChatGPT while maintaining their data security requirements. The system operates within agencies’ own Microsoft Azure environments, allowing them to manage security and compliance internally. According to OpenAI, over 90,000 government employees have already generated more than 18 million prompts using ChatGPT in 2024. The platform will be available for testing within a month, particularly targeting agencies handling sensitive data in defense, law enforcement, and healthcare. OpenAI’s Chief Product Officer Kevin Weil emphasized that the product demonstrates their commitment to maintaining U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence technology.
