Scale AI, a company valued at $13.8 billion, is confronting three lawsuits within roughly a month over its treatment of workers. According to Charles Rollet’s report in TechCrunch, the latest class action lawsuit, filed on January 17 in California, involves six workers who claim they suffered psychological trauma from reviewing disturbing content without adequate support. Two earlier lawsuits allege minimum wage violations and worker misclassification. The workers claim they were forced to write prompts involving violence and abuse, leading to mental health issues including PTSD. Scale AI spokesperson Joe Osborne maintains that the company complies with all regulations and provides safeguards for workers, including content warnings and wellness programs. The plaintiffs seek damages, new safety standards, and a medical monitoring program.
