OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle are planning a joint venture called Stargate to build artificial intelligence infrastructure in Texas, with investments of up to $500 billion over four years. According to Reuters reporter Steve Holland, President Donald Trump will announce this private sector initiative at the White House. The companies have committed an initial $100 billion to the project. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, and Oracle’s Larry Ellison are expected to attend the announcement. The venture aims to address the growing demand for specialized AI data centers that can support large-scale computing operations. This announcement may be related to a previously reported project between OpenAI and Microsoft, which planned a similar $100 billion data center initiative called Stargate.
