Cohere has introduced North, a new AI workspace platform designed for enterprise customers with high security requirements. According to technology reporter Michael Nuñez, the platform combines language models, search capabilities, and automation tools while maintaining data privacy. North operates in private cloud environments or on-premises installations, targeting regulated sectors like finance and healthcare. The Royal Bank of Canada has already partnered with Cohere to develop a specialized banking version. The platform’s built-in search system, Compass, processes multiple data types and reportedly reduces task completion times by 80% compared to manual searches. CEO Aidan Gomez emphasizes that North outperforms competing solutions from Microsoft and Google across various business functions, particularly in finance and IT operations. The platform is currently available through an early access program.
