Artificial intelligence will replace tasks rather than entire professions, according to Stanford University professor Dr. Erik Brynjolfsson. Speaking on a panel at the Global Future Councils Annual Meeting, he said that most jobs will remain safe if companies and policymakers prioritize augmentation rather than automation. Brynjolfsson described AI as a key technology that can drive improvements. Using radiologists as an example, he showed how AI can help with certain tasks while others still require human involvement. According to his data, around 80% of the US workforce will have at least 10% of their tasks affected by AI. The professor emphasized that the greater opportunity lies in using AI to augment human skills, rather than automating jobs.
