TypeSafe releases Jev 1.14.0 with experimental image and long-context tools

TypeSafe has released Jev 1.14.0, an updated version of its AI decision model, while also opening access to experimental features for image inputs, bounding boxes, and longer context windows. TypeSafe announces the changes in an official company blog post, stressing that the new capabilities are not yet intended for production-critical work.

The company places the features behind “danger zone” API headers. This approach lets users test newer functions while signaling that reliability remains uneven. TypeSafe says it wants to serve both teams that need dependable automation and users who want to explore more creative applications.

Images and bounding boxes

Jev can now accept images alongside text. Users can insert visual material into several parts of the system’s JSON interface, including instructions, state information, and evaluation criteria. TypeSafe says the underlying Jev 1.13.0 model already had multimodal capabilities, but the company is now exposing them to users.

The company cautions that Jev, like other AI models, performs less reliably on tasks involving images than on text-only tasks. It recommends splitting visual questions into simple, focused requests.

TypeSafe is also introducing a new output type called box. It returns one bounding box, which identifies a specific rectangular area in an image. The feature could support tasks such as locating an object in a visual asset. For now, TypeSafe enables it only with Jev 1.14.0.

Longer inputs and model updates

A separate header allows longer context windows, meaning users can provide more text or information in a single request. TypeSafe says it had previously limited this capacity because model reliability tends to fall as context grows.

Jev 1.14.0 is initially available through the jev-preview channel. TypeSafe expects improvements across tasks, particularly multilingual use. The company says it plans to move jev-latest to version 1.14.0 after a week while keeping version 1.13.0 available for a period. It also plans advance warnings before formal model deprecations.
