Samsung deploys ChatGPT and Codex to tens of thousands of employees worldwide

Samsung Electronics is rolling out ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to a large portion of its global workforce. OpenAI writes that the agreement covers all Samsung Electronics employees in Korea and all employees in its Device eXperience (DX) division worldwide. The company describes the deployment as one of its largest enterprise launches ever.

Samsung plans to use both tools across a broad range of functions, including software development, marketing, product development, and manufacturing. The goal is to boost productivity and problem-solving across technical and non-technical roles alike.

Two tools, many use cases

  • ChatGPT Enterprise helps employees with knowledge-based tasks such as searching and analyzing information, drafting documents, and interpreting data. It includes data protection, access management, and security controls.
  • Codex supports not only developers writing, reviewing, and debugging code, but also non-technical staff. Employees can use it to turn ideas into working software, internal tools, websites, and automated workflows.

OpenAI says more than 5 million people now use Codex every week. In Korea specifically, Codex weekly active users have grown nearly 800 percent since February 2026.

Harrison Kim, General Manager of OpenAI Korea, called the deployment historically significant, noting that Samsung is embracing AI “as a core platform for improving how employees around the world work and innovate.”

The collaboration between the two companies predates this agreement. Samsung has been supplying OpenAI with advanced memory semiconductors for AI infrastructure. This new deal expands the relationship into workforce transformation. Other major Korean organisations, including Seoul National University, LG Electronics, and Kakao, have also adopted OpenAI products in recent months.
