Pika, a Palo Alto-based AI startup, has released version 2.0 of its video generation platform, introducing enhanced customization features and improved motion capabilities. The new release comes shortly after OpenAI’s launch of its Sora video generator. According to Carl Franzen’s report in VentureBeat, the platform’s key innovation is the “Scene Ingredients” feature, allowing users to upload and integrate their own characters, objects, and settings into AI-generated videos. Pika 2.0 also offers improved text alignment and more natural movement rendering, addressing common challenges in AI video generation.
The company has seen significant growth, with its user base reaching 11 million, including five million new users who joined after the release of version 1.5. Major brands like Balenciaga, Fenty, and Vogue have already utilized Pika’s technology for social media advertising. The platform positions itself as an affordable solution for individuals and small creators, distinguishing itself from competitors focusing on professional studios. Under CEO Demi Guo’s leadership, Pika aims to democratize video creation through AI technology, making it more accessible for creative storytelling and content generation.
